I'm a little behind on my TV viewing... I've just watched the Smallville episode entitled "Run" which was aired two weeks ago in Australia. (And on October 2004 in the USA). Anyway, I thought the episode was not very well written. It was all over the place, sections continuing Lana's arc with her boyfriend on the issues of keeping secrets and that strange tattoo symbol on her back, Mrs Kent's avoidance issues, that artefact with that hidden map, Lex Luthor pretending to be open to Clark and the introduction of another superhero Bart Allen aka - The Flash. Too many things were taking place and the episode turned out to be a real bore. I think the writers treated this episode as "filler" to continue and grow small parts of the arcs which I think they will be using in future.
I'm no comic fan but according to my research online, Bart Allen is "The Flash". The episode of course refers to many of the facts that come directly from DC comic land. Such as the fake licence cards Clark found in Bart's wallet: Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, and Wally West who were all three identities of the Flash. In the episode - The Flash was clearly faster than Clark, but in the comics they are typically even matched on speed.
