I read last week that DigitalGlobe launched a new satellite into space called WorldView-1 whch would provide high resolution in the order of the ability to zoom in on objects as small as 45.7cm! WorldView-1 was designed to collect up to 751,100 square kilometres of imagery a day - an area about the size of Texas. DigitalGlobe supplies much of Google Earth's imagery. They are launching another satellite called WorldView-2 next year. We have the whole universe to look at and we spend a lot of money to send two satellites to look at ourselves. Yes indeed, humans are definitely vain.
