For the frugal at heart, parking sucks in Parramatta. Parking is of course a cash-cow for the council and necessary to pay for the services the local citizens use such as the library and as well as the snacks provided for the local council and mayoral chambers. As the council says on their website: "Revenue from parking meters is reinvested back into the community via neighbour revitalisation projects, resources and infrastructure." They want us to come to Parramatta - but not to stay too long: "Parking meters help turn over parking more regularly, making it easier for visitors to find parking and encourage greater patronage in business districts."

Where is the Free Parking in Parramatta?

There is free parking available in Parramatta. You can park for 3 hours in Westfield Parramatta. If you haev one of those disabled signs/stickers you can display that on your dashboard for free parking. If you have a motorcycle you can park here for free:

• Erby Place
• Civic Place
• Cnr of H`orwood Place & Macquarie lane
• Parkes Street (outside Wentworth Street car park)
• Fennell Street car park (North Parramatta)
• Macquarie Street car park
• Erby Lane (off Horwood Place)

There is also free 15 minute parking in Parramatta (remember they want you to come, but not stay too long):

• CBD streets bounded by Marsden St, Phillip St, Smith St & Railway line plus Church St South of Argyle St
• Ross Street (between Villiers and Sorrell Streets)
• Grose Street (between Villiers and Sorrell Streets)
• Fennell Street (between Villiers and Sorrell Streets)

What is the Cost of Parking in Parramatta?

• $3.00 per hour CBD (central)
• $2.00 per hour North Parramatta (north of Parramatta River, except Church Street and the southern part of the CBD between Church street, Parkes Street, the Railway Line and Raymond Street )
• $1.00 per hour after 6pm & all day Saturday for operating meters (check the signs! there is free parking in certain areas!)
• $1.00 per hour where there is 10 hour parking or all day parking
