We all know Aussie TV is way was behind schedule compared to the US. But Everwood takes the cake. The series is currently shown on Channel 9 on a daily basis during the Summer non-ratings period and is about three years behind the US schedule. The interesting this is that Everwood is actually shown during prime-time in the States but yet here it only gets a daytime slot. Just as Channel 9 screwed loyal viewers to Smallville they screwed us with Everwood. Smallville is also years behind schedule - but thanks to Channel 10 picking up the series we are slowly making progress as Channel Ten shows the program on a bi-weekly basis. (And for you Americans reading this - two points - stop laughing and secondly bi-weekly in Australia means twice a week - not every two weeks; we call something that happens every two weeks fortnightly)
Getting back to the point...
I don't normally watch dramas, but this one lured me to watch and now I can't seem to miss an episode. The plot to put it simply is this: Everwood is set in a beautiful town in Colorado - with a nice snow capped mountain backdrop. The story is centered mostly on the activities of one family - Dr. Brown, but has a sub arc going around the other doctor in town - Dr Abbot's family. To keep the plot to date short I'm going to cut a lot of the other sub-arcs that are threaded through the story... Anyway, Dr. Brown is a highly successful Doctor/Brain Surgeon from New York. Presumably even made the cover of Time magazine. With the death of his wife, he needed a kind of 'seachange.' So he moved his family - his son Ephram and daughter Delia to this small town to get away from it all and to find himself. There was a lot of conflict between Ephram and his dad in the first series but not so much now... that arc has somewhat subsided. They have settle most of their issues. Now the ongoing issues is with Amy Abbott's depression (Dr Abbott's daughter) and the relationship of Ephram who is playing a 16 year old with the 20 year old babysitter for his sister and also the relationship between Dr Brown and Dr Abbott's sister (Marcia Cross) who is also a doctor. There is also the long term arc of Ephram liking Amy Abbott but of course there's a lot of issues there... Anyway this may all seem confusing - but with all drama shows it's what makes them interesting.
Finally, the last episode shown today was Episode 2.09 "Just Like The Movies" is where the episode ended with Dr. Brown (Treat Williams) singing Dr L. Abbott - Dr Abbot's sister (Marcia Cross that woman from Desperate Housewives) "Love Song" a song written by Kenny Loggins and D.L. George which was originally performed by Anne Murray... And after singing her the song she confesses why she was avoiding him as he was trying to 'court' her with flowers and balloons...
Love Song
There's a wren in a willow wood
Flies so high and sings so good
And he brings to you what he sings to you
Like my brother the wren and I
Well, he told if I try, I could fly for you
And I wanna try for you 'cause
CHORUS
I wanna sing you a love song
I wanna rock you in my arms all night long
I wanna get to know you
I wanna show you the peaceful feelin' of my home
Summer thunder on moon-bright days
Northern Lights and skies ablaze
And I bring to you, lover, when I sing to you
Silver wings in a fiery sky
Show the trail of my love and I
Sing to you, love is what I bring to you
And I wanna sing to you, oh
CHORUS
(brief instrumental break)
CHORUS
I wanna show you the peaceful feelin' of my home
