Updated Photos2View.com

I've updated my photography website after a few years of neglect. Compare it to the old format.

I've just made it into a simple one column, one page website. Nothing like the flash loaded pages that photographers have nowadays. Flash may look good, but what use is it for SEO?

Anyway, photography is just a hobby.

Random Note for Aspiring and Amateur Photographers

Found somewhere:

"Most encounters by amateur and aspiring photographers are by the following:

1. Night club promoters trying to get models to go to their clubs.
2. Sleezy model agents trying to get attractive girls to join their disreputable agency (many of which double as escort agencies)
3. Guys looking for dates.
4. Terrible photographers trying to shoot pretty girls. This usually winds up heading towards the #3 category.
5. Average photographers looking to scout girls to bring to the agencies to maybe get a finder's fee or cut."

Your best bet is to smile, take their card, and say, 'Thanks,' and keep walking.

Hmmm...

Sonny Photography

I found this blog by another photographer whose name is "Sonny". I love his photos. The thing is, You need professional equipment to achieve this as well as a professional posse - complete with reflector dude and a makeup artist as well as creative director - and don't forget your model. I just like pushing the button every now and again, but this level of photography is out of my league (for now). Professional equipment may include a medium format camera, with your favourite lens. This is FILM camera you guys... = $$$ and also mind that these rolls only have 12 shots a roll! Anyway, for now I should just focus on my engineering studies as well as my share trading and a bit of forex trading.

PhotographyTips.org

Today marks the launch of PhotographyTips.org. There isn't much content there yet, but as the days, weeks, months and hopefully years go by - it should become a successful website with a bit of work.

The websites' premise is to provide Photography Hints and Tips and information about new and old equipment, how to use photographic equipment, and also features a directory of photographers and services.

Any photographer is welcome to submit their website to the directory.

Mona Lisa's Smile Scientifically Dissected

Mona Lisa was 83 per cent happy, 9 per cent disgusted, 6 per cent fearful and 2 per cent angry.

That's the conclusion of a University of Amsterdam computer, which applied "emotion-recognition software" to Leonardo da Vinci's work, New Scientist reports.

The algorithm, developed in collaboration with University of Illinois researchers, tries to assess the human mood by examining key features such as the curvature of the lips and crinkles around the eyes, then makes a score with respect to six basic emotions.

D70 Camera Lens Wishlist

I have a Camera Lens Wishlist that I have... It's more like a 'dreamlist' - I doubt it would be fulfilled in the next few years.

These two camera lenses are doubly more expensive than my current camera body the Nikon D70.

Why buy these camera lenses?
You can get nice sharp clear photos easier because of the fast focusing mechanism and the quality of the lenses.

Googled "sunset polariser sydney" - Photography Research

I had a photography assignment tonight - but before I left I Googled "sunset polariser sydney" so as to do a bit of research of what results to expect if I use my polariser (or in american terms polarizer) during a sunset session. You see - I was going to be taking photos on a boat in Sydney Harbour and I wanted to plan a bit... Anyhow - everything went fine - except that the weather was giving us hell on the top deck with all the wind and the sky just didn't give us the deep red sunsets we've been getting over the past few days. It was cloudy and grey :(

Anyway the job was uneventful - a Christmas party on a glass boat with an open top deck... took the photos with the harbour highlights as the background - the bridge, the Sydney skyline, Sydney Opera House... Then I was dropped off to develop the photos, got that done then caught a water taxi back to the boat to deliver the photos and then back to the wharf... well I did see Human Nature... I got dropped off at the Man O War wharf when I walked past a group of men all wearing the same thing and I had one of those moments where I thought I've seen the people before but not sure where. It's only when the short one turned that I recognised who they were...

Isabel Roces PETA Campaign

Isabel Roces - PETA
Looks like Filipina supermodel Isabel Roces is heading a campaign for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). In PETA’s latest campaign they have the Philippine supermodel sitting in a pile of red hot Thai chilli peppers. The animal rights group is calling on consumers in Asia to shun meat to become vegetarian.

According to zeenews, the pile of chilli peppers around Isabel Roces is 250 kilograms worth. Do you really think the Thai peppers she is sitting amongst in the photos weigh 250 kilograms?

"Being healthy and kind is always in style," said Isabel Roces, who was recently named Fashion Model of the Year by MTV Philippines. "So whether you want to slim down

and get healthy or just clear your conscious, there's no better way than to go vegetarian."

"This is the first time we've ever done anything this hot," said Jason Baker, a PETA spokesperson. One past PETA advertisement featured Baywatch star Pamela Anderson wearing a bikini made out of iceberg lettuce. Ms Roces, a vegetarian who has posed for Peta ads before, volunteered her services as she was already in Thailand on another assignment.

Controversial calendars use sex to sell God

Controversial calendars use sex to sell God - cover

In Germany - the roots of protestantism - a protestant youth group has produced a 2006 calendar with twelve photos depicting erotic scenes from the bible, including a bare-breasted Delilah cutting Samson's hair and a nude Eve offering an apple.

"There's a whole range of biblical scriptures simply bursting with eroticism," said Stefan Wiest, the 32-year-old photographer who took the titillating pictures.

Anne Rohmer, 21, poses on a doorstep in garters and stockings as the prostitute Rahab, mentioned in both New and Old Testaments. "We wanted to represent the Bible in a different way and to interest young people," she said.

"Anyway, it doesn't say anywhere in the Bible that you are forbidden to show yourself nude."

Bernd Grasser, pastor of the church in Nuremberg where the calendar is being sold, was enthusiastic about the project.

"It's just wonderful when teenagers commit themselves with their hair and their skin to the Bible," he said.

- Well... everyone has a right to interpret the bible anyway they want... it's classified as "art" anyway...
