Battlestar Galactica - Season 4

Jumping back for its last batch of episodes, "Battlestar Galactica" continues its improbable ascent from a mediocre 1970s footnote to one of the more intriguing episodic hours of the 21st century. Brimming with paranoia, the series picks up seamlessly from last season's jaw-dropping cliffhanger, where a handful of new Cylons-in-human's-clothing were revealed. Crisp and tense, this Sci Fi Channel staple looks destined to make a headlong plunge toward the finish line in pursuit of that elusive place called Earth.

For those who haven't been (or won't admit to having been) waiting breathlessly since the last voyage, suffice it to say that things are a little unsettled with the Colonial Fleets since several crew members heard strange music and suddenly realized they were, in fact, Cylons. Meanwhile, Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) has returned from what appeared to be certain death, claiming she knows where Earth is, though Admiral Adama (Edward James Olmos) is perhaps to be forgiven for his skepticism as to whether she can be trusted.

Gordon Ramsay has a Lawsuit - NOT!

Bloody Australian TV. Bloody Australian Media. Australian TV is SO behind. Some channels try to keep up to date, but others still force feed old TV shows down our throats. And Australian Media are reporting OLD NEWS. Channel 9 has a hit show on it's hands: "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares" - they've been rushing through the seasons by showing two episodes a week. They've been marketing the show heavily and creating controversy (#1 marketing tactic) about his bad language. They've featured him on 60 Minutes and A Current Affair. Newspapers and even the government are even in on the marketing scheme by continuing the marketing story about Gordon Ramsay's foul language. Yesterday I stumbled upon a news article from heraldsun.com.au about Gordon Ramsay and his lawsuit. The story was dated: April 23, 2008 12:00am. and the Article said:

The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club was an interesting film. I was watching some documentary which referenced this film so I gave it a watch. The Breakfast Club released back in 1985 and is written and directed by John Hughes (Also of Home Alone and Ferris Bueller's Day Off fame). The movie stars Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy.

I found the Breakfast Club to be a little slow in the beginning, but I guess that was needed since it sets the scene and builds the foundation for the action to occur towards the end of the film. Everyone knew someone like or can empathise with one of the stereotypical characters: the jock, the criminal, the princess and the psycho. It's important to remember back to one's high school experience to really understand the film. Everyone has a viewpoint, a different perspective. Everyone is crazy in their own way (As Andrew, played by Estevez says: "We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all."). No one can really know what goes on behind closed doors; although with a little thought, people's backgrounds are predictable: the geek would most likely have a family pressuring them for success and the criminal is most likely to come from an abusive background. I wonder what they did the next day... stay friends or go back to their old ways?

Movies in the Cinema Now and Upcoming

Here are the upcoming movies and the movies being shown in Australian cinemas now...

I'll definitely watch these movies when they come out:

  • Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, starring Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf
  • The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian, starring Ben Barnes and Georgie Henley
  • Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow

I saw an interview on TV about Untraceable, starring Diane Lane and Dan Callahan... looks like a thriller movie about the Internet... kin of like the updated version of "The Net" with Sandra Bullock done made than a decade ago.

Movies in the Cinema Now:

Forgetting Sarah Marshall, starring Jason Segel and Kristen Bell
Street Kings, starring Keanu Reeves and Forest Whitaker
The Painted Veil, starring Edward Norton and Naomi Watts
Gone Baby Gone, starring Casey Affleck and Morgan Freeman
The Spiderwick Chronicles, starring Freddie Highmore and Sarah Bolger
Step Up 2 The Streets, starring Robert Hoffman and Briana Evigan

Failure

Even successful people failed on their way to the top... The video uses famous American people such as Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison and Ulysses S. Grant. Life = Risk. Failure is a part of life and success.

10. Samwell - "What What (In the Butt)"
This gay song and music video has had over 9 million views. I wonder if the guy has become the next gay icon after Kylie Minogue?

Meet the Spartans Sucks

Don't watch "Meet the Spartans". It's a waste of time. I wonder how this piece of crap got funded? I know its a spoof movie, but there have been spoof movies of a better caliber like "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" and "Scary Movie." It was okay in the beginning, then it started to become ridiculous. It started losing momentum about 5 minutes into the movie when they started throwing everything that was "trashy" into a bottomless pit. (i.e. Britney Spears, American Idol winners and co.) I'm not going to write anymore about "Meet the Spartans". The movie simply sucks. Don't watch it.

Funny Business Report

Here's a funny Youtube video of a trader at the Chicago trading pits shouting, "Who put this dick on my back?" over a business news report. Enjoy.

Jumper

Jumper sucks. I actually didn't want to watch this because it got bad reviews. (perhaps that made me more cynical about the plot?) There was nothing else on and so I watched it. What is it with Samuel L. Jackson nowadays? Why does he do all these crappy movies now?

I guess, if you want to sit down and enjoy a movie, Jumper could be entertaining as it raises the possibility of someone actually jumping around the world - being able to teleport from one place to another.

Jumper is trying to be too many things. Is it an action movie or a thriller? Or is it a sci-fi movie? It tries to be all of them at once. And it sucks at all of them. Action is so-so. There is no "thrill" - very predictable plotline. And the sci-fi.... don't even get me started.

Jumper as a sci-fi movie... the movie synopsis says:

"A genetic anomaly allows a young man to teleport himself anywhere. He discovers this gift has existed for centuries and finds himself in a war that has been raging for thousands of years between "Jumpers" and those who have sworn to kill them."

Mad TV Bobby Lee, a Gay Arab and a Terrorist

I was watching MAD TV on channel 9 last weekend (they air the episodes at 2am on Sunday or Monday night) and I realised that Australia is some 2 or 3 seasons behind in Mad TV. Stupid Channel 9. Thanks to the producers of Mad TV for allowing people to post Mad TV on YouTube. You've got to watch this random bit that MADTV made: Mad TV 13th Season Premiere: 24 with Bobby Lee, a Gay Arab and a Terrorist.

Stargate Atlantis: The Last Man S04E20

Stargate Atlantis has tied up the last episode of this season in "The Last Man" (Season 4 Episode 20). It has been awhile since Atlantis has had a decent story arc. They were floundering around ever since they got back from their mid-season break. But this story was well-written (in Stargate Atlantis standards - nothing could beat the original SG-1).

The CGI for the new ship the Phoenix - looked much like the Daedalus. The only other CGI that looked a bit tacky and reminded me of computer game CGI effects last decade was the off-world factory which exploded. I guess they had budgetary constraints. But the story made up for that.

Stargate Atlantis S04E20 Episode Synopsis: The Last Man: Sheppard returns from a mission to find Atlantis abandoned and high and dry on a sand dune thousands of years after his last search for Teyla, but all maybe set right after seeing a hologram of an aged Dr. McKay.

If you missed the episode you can read all about it on GateWorld or go watch it from this sharing website: Release Log.

Funny Writers Strike Video

USA has a Writers Guild strike at the moment... of course parodies are to be expected. Here's one scenario of what the producers could do if the writers don't go back to work.
