Unleaded Petrol Prices

Unleaded petrol prices are rising. And rising fast. Oil prices are at their record heights. Do you know the average price of uleaded petrol in Australia is about AUD$1.46 per Litre for this month (May 2008). In America the monthly average is USD$3.78 per Gallon or just AUD $1.047 per Litre (At todays rate of $1 AUD = 0.954 US cents and there are 3.784L in 1 gallon). I last wrote about petrol prices back in 2005 when petrol hit $1.39 for the first time. Last month in USA the average per gallon of unleaded petrol was $3.39 and least year the average stood at USD$3.10 per Gallon. Analysts predict that if one barrel of oil was to reach US$200, unleaded petrol would be around USD $5 per gallon or AUD $1.38 per litre. Now that price difference between what Americans pay for their Unleaded Petrol and what we Aussies pay is something to think about.

I haven't been a Dr Who fan for long. I only started watching in the "new" series started: when Billie Piper started playing the Doctor's companion. Georgia Moffet makes an appearance in Dr Who this week... An interesting pick for actresses because she is the daughter of Peter Davison aka Peter Moffett who was the 5th reincarnation of Dr Who and also made an appearance in the show recently as "The Master". Stupid Nigrerian Email Scam Spam

Here is another one of those Nigerian scam spam emails... If you want to have a laugh and perhaps help out stamping out this kind of scam go visit: http://www.419eater.com/. They have a great community of "anonymous" people scamming the scammers. Instead of simply pressing the spam email button, these internet citizens click reply and actually start a relationship with the spammers. Their goal? To get a trophy: which usually consists of a photo of the scammer holding up a bogus sign or product. I simply can't believe people are still being taken in on this type of spam crime...

Alien Life According to the Catholic Church

The Catholic church isn't ruling out alien life forms... The search for extraterrestrial life does not contradict belief in God, the Pope's chief astronomer said, adding that some aliens may even be innocent of the original sin. "As an astronomer I continue to believe that God is the creator of the universe," Jose Gabriel Funes said in an interview with the Vatican mouthpiece, the Osservatore Romano.

Even if "we don't currently have any proof... the hypothesis" of extraterrestrial life cannot be ruled out, said Funes, a Jesuit priest who directs the Vatican's observatory at Castel Gandolfo, near Rome. "Just as there are a plethora of creatures on Earth, there could be others, equally intelligent, created by God," he said.

Original sin, which by Christian tradition occurred in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit of a particular tree, refers to the fallen state from which humans can be saved only by God's grace. Asked about the difficult theological question, Funes said: "If other intelligent beings exist, it's not certain that they need redemption." They could "have remained in full friendship with their creator" without committing the original sin, he said.

Jennifer Hawkins Drops Skirt

Flasback to 2004 when Jennifer Hawkins drops her skirt in front of an audience in Sydney. She has been freshly crowned Miss Universe in 2004. It was at Westfield Miranda, an Australian shopping centre, when she tripped on the hem of her dress, which fell to the floor. Hawkins was left scantily clad in her red thong in front of a surprised crowd. Hawkins later apologized, laughingly adding she "wished she wore better underwear". The incident received the dubious distinction of being named "The most embarrassing moment ever shown on Australian television" by Australia's Nine Network. The "Wardrobe malfunction" was widely circulated through news outlets and according to Google, caused a sharp increase in internet searches for "Jennifer Hawkins". Photography Industry Jobs

Still looking at the job pages for photography related jobs. Why? I'm just interested in what kind of jobs are out there for photographers and people who are interested in photographic arts. Also, its also interesting to observe what the business of photography requires. They need: photographers, assistants, graphic designers and sales people. My previous posts about photography related employment are: Studio jobs, digital photographer for a studio, another photography job, freelance photographer, a junior photographer job and finally a Starshots studio photographer.

Jennifer Hawkins in Lingerie

Miss Universe 2004 Jennifer Hawkins in a lingerie photoshoot. Here is a previous post with Jennifer in a nude bikini and Miss Hawkins on the red carpet. Hawkins signed a contract with the Seven Network in 2004 Her first appearances were as a guest presenter on the network's travel show, The Great Outdoors, where she took viewers on tours throughout the world. When she ended her reign as Miss Universe, she became a regular presenter on the show. The Great Outdoors is on Channel 7 on Saturday evenings. I find it interesting that nearly every second week they've got her prancing around in a bikini on some tropical beach. I guess they need a drawcard to interest the male viewers...

Battlestar Galactica - Season 4

Jumping back for its last batch of episodes, "Battlestar Galactica" continues its improbable ascent from a mediocre 1970s footnote to one of the more intriguing episodic hours of the 21st century. Brimming with paranoia, the series picks up seamlessly from last season's jaw-dropping cliffhanger, where a handful of new Cylons-in-human's-clothing were revealed. Crisp and tense, this Sci Fi Channel staple looks destined to make a headlong plunge toward the finish line in pursuit of that elusive place called Earth.

For those who haven't been (or won't admit to having been) waiting breathlessly since the last voyage, suffice it to say that things are a little unsettled with the Colonial Fleets since several crew members heard strange music and suddenly realized they were, in fact, Cylons. Meanwhile, Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) has returned from what appeared to be certain death, claiming she knows where Earth is, though Admiral Adama (Edward James Olmos) is perhaps to be forgiven for his skepticism as to whether she can be trusted.
